The Rochester Lilac Festival has been the harbinger of spring in Rochester for over 100 years. The festival runs for ten days in May, with two weekends of Art in the Park art and craft shows.


The festival is held in the renowned Highland Park, which features the largest variety and display of lilacs in North America. In addition to the flowers, the festival features a wine tasting, craft beer expo, a parade and 5k and 10k races on different days of the festival. There are also local, regional and national bands performing every day.

Art in the Park takes place along Reservoir Avenue, a shaded street adjacent to the lilac gardens and the main festival site. Booths are set up on the curb back across the sidewalk, leaving the street open for shoppers. The street is closed to traffic during the festival hours of 10-6 on Saturday and 10-5 on Sunday and open to artists only during set-up and tear-down. Free parking for artists is on adjacent streets, with staff on golf carts providing rides. Shoppers may access Art in the Park on paths through the lilacs or the shuttle stop at the end of the show.

A panel of respected local artists selects the participants for the show in March in a blind jury. New artists are required to send a photograph of themselves in their workshop creating their art. There is a mixture from fine art to crafts, but no buy and sell is allowed.

Amenities to the show are preferred hotel rates, drive-up load in and load out, free parking, a continental breakfast on Sunday morning and our amazing Block Captains who are there to help you as needed.

Only those who are the hands-on makers of their work may participate in Art in the Park at the Rochester Lilac Festival. NO BUY/SELL is permitted. Select which category you will be applying under. You may apply in more than one category but they must be related and cohesive, such as glass and jewelry (made of glass only) AND you need to apply separately, with a separate set of photographs, for each category.

If you are a returning applicant to the Lilac Festival – please log into your account with the email and password created last year. We encourage you to submit new photos for the Jury.


You may apply to exhibit for one or both weekends.


  • There is a $30 non-refundable application fee.
  • The booth fee is $185 for each 10’x10′ space, for each weekend. Double booths are twice the cost of a single.
  • For applications postmarked after February 19, 2021 there is a $50 non-refundable late fee.
  • Applications are not accepted after March 5, 2021.
  • You will NOT be paying online. At the end of the application you will be prompted to “Print Entry”. You will mail this signed entry along with two checks: your application fee, which will be deposited upon receipt, and a separate check for your booth fee, which will be deposited on April 8 after acceptance notifications have been sent.
