FESTIVAL MAP & GROUND RULES

LILAC FESTIVAL SITE GROUND RULES

The following ground rules apply to the Festival Site within Highland Park.

    • No pets allowed. Please leave your pet at home. Pets will be turned away.
    • Bicycles, skateboards and in-line skates are not allowed
    • Patrons are able to bring a small chair and umbrellas and blankets are welcome.
    • With the exception of one sealed bottle of water, visitors may not bring food or beverages into the festival grounds.
    • To enhance your festival going experience, the Rochester Lilac Festival has implemented a parental escort program, the details of which are as follows:
      • Thorough the hours of the Festival (10:30am -8:30pm) each day:
        • Persons the age of sixteen and under are not permitted unless escorted by a parent, legal guardian or responsible adult.
        • All under age persons must remain within the company of their escort at all times.
        • Each escort may supervise up to five youths.
        • All persons appearing to be less than 17 years of age should be prepared to show valid identification which include a photograph and date of birth.
        • Valid forms of identification include: Driver’s license, non-driver ID card, college ID, Passport, Visa.
        • This policy is at the discretion of the on-site security team.

PARKING & SHUTTLE

Please be aware of the changes to traffic patterns due to the Highland Park Traffic Control Plan. Follow the directions below to get to the festival effectively.

DON'T GET TICKETED OR TOWED + -

Be kind to the neighborhood and your pocketbook and obey the parking rules. Vehicles parked illegally on the side streets surrounding the Lilac Festival and Highland Park will be ticketed and/or towed.

PARKING RATES + -

Enter before 3:00pm and Park Free on Friday, May 11th (Opening Day)

Enter before 3:00pm and Park Free on Weekdays, Monday, May 14th through Friday, May 18th

All Other Times: $5.00 per car

PUBLIC PARKING + -

Close-in parking is available every day at three locations. If using web based driving directions or GPS, please enter one of the following Public Parking Lot coordinates in your destination field.

Lot 1 | Adjacent to 1000 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester, NY 14620. Enter from Elmwood Avenue

Lot 2 | Adjacent to 1440 South Avenue, Rochester, NY 14620. Enter from South Avenue

Lot 3 | Located at 485 Highland Avenue, Rochester, NY 14620. Enter on Goodman Street, between Highland and Elmwood Avenues

BUS & MOTOR COACH PARKING + -

Motor coaches and other group tour vehicles must stop at the bus and motor coach check-in booth at the corner of Highland and South Avenues before discharging their passengers. Bus Drivers will be directed to a drop off point close to the purple cross walk. Once passengers have been discharged, vehicles will be directed to free parking

PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES + -

People with disabilities who have a wheelchair hang tag should use Public Parking Lot 2 and enter from South Avenue. The GPS address is 1440 South Avenue, Rochester, NY 14620. Please be aware, changes to traffic patterns during the Lilac Festival may affect your route.

WEEKEND SHUTTLE SERVICE + -

Park free at Monroe Community College, 1000 E Henrietta Road, Rochester, NY 14623

Shuttle Service to and from the Festival site operates continuously from 10:30am through 9:00pm each Saturday and Sunday with pick up and drop off at the purple crosswalk on Highland Avenue near the entrance to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Adult round trip shuttle cost is $2.00, children six and under ride free. Handicapped accessible busses are available. For any questions, call Greg at Visit Rochester 585.784.0302.

PARADE DAY EXTENDED SHUTTLE HOURS + -

On Lilac Parade day, Saturday, May 12, 2018, shuttle service will operate continuously from 8:30am through 9:00pm.

Changes apply from May 8 – May 20, 2018

Traffic Pattern Changes

  • Highland Avenue is one-way Eastbound from Goodman Street to South Avenue
  • Pinetum Drive, One way Westbound, from South Goodman Street to Doctors Drive
  • Reservoir Avenue, One way Westbound, from Pinetum Drive/ Doctors Drive to Mt. Hope Avenue
  • Doctors Drive Closed to Through Traffic
  • Robinson Drive, One Way Eastbound, from Mt. Hope Avenue to South Avenue

Road Closures

The following roads will be Closed (Local Traffic Only)

  • Meadowbrook Road between Elmwood Avenue and Highland Avenue
  • Azalea Road between Elmwood Avenue and Highland Avenue
  • Laney Road between Elmwood Avenue and Highland Avenue
  • Gregory Hill Road between Meigs Street and South Goodman Street
  • Furman Cres between Highland Aveune and Mt Hope Avenue
  • Pavilion Street between South Avenue to West Dead End
  • Linden Street between Mt Hope Avenue to South Avenue

THE LILAC EXPERIENCE

While admission to the festival is free, the following opportunities provide an upgraded experience:

  • Add reserved seating for the Lilac Parade on Saturday, May 12, 2018 (FREE but you must reserve in advance.) Seating begins at 8:00am. Groups must arrive no later than 9:00am.
  • Add a visit to the Lamberton Conservatory ($3 per person, $2 per person Seniors 62+)
