Join us as we attempt to set another GUINNESS WORLD RECORDSTM, The World’s Longest Relay Hug!

Sponsored by Hurlbut Care Communities, 1801 people will attempt to break The World’s Longest Relay Hug record.

The hug will intertwine throughout Highland Park, and end in a Hurlbut
Heart at Center Stage. Participants will be given a T-Shirt and a bandana, in different colors while completing the continuous hug, one Hurlbut Hug at a time.
Video and camera crew will capture every moment, ending with the Opening Ceremonies on Sahlen’s Center Stage.

Thank you for your interest in registering for the Hurlbut Hug Relay.

Walk up registrations are welcome and open from 8:00AM-9:30AM at any either check-in table. The relay will begin promptly at 10AM!

How do I register to participate? + -

All participants must register online at www.RochesterEvents.com. Once registered you will receive further check-in instructions via email for the day of the event.

When do I arrive for the Hurlbut Hug Relay? + -

Please check-in by 8:00-9:30am at the check-in zone. At the time of check-in, you will receive your t-shirt and bandana as well as directions to your zone assignment.

Where should I park? + -

Refer to the map- Please go to the entrance closest to your assigned zone. Color Purple, Green, should park at 1000 Elmwood lot and Red and Turquoise should park at 1440 South Avenue. Handicap accessible entrance is located at 1440 South Avenue.

What time will the record setting relay begin? + -

The relay will begin promptly at 10am. We require everyone to be in place no later than 9:45am.

What if I am running late to my zone? + -

If you are not in your zone by 9:45am you will not be allowed to participate in the world record attempt.

Once the counting begins, what can participants do? + -

Due to strict guidelines, participants are required to stay in their lines until the Adjudicator counts all the hugs. When the Adjudicator passes you, you must remain in line in order for your hug to count. All participants are encouraged to bring a chair. You are allowed to socialize, decorate your t-shirt, post on social media and #LilacFest & #Hurlbut Hug! Restrooms will be available through the park.

What happens if I need to use the restroom? + -

You will need to check the steward to save your position, and it can be no longer than 15 minutes. If you are not in line while the hug passes your spot, you will be disqualified. Do not leave the line as the hug approaches!!

How long will the relay be? + -

We are aiming for 1801 hugs counted! When the relay begins at 10am we anticipate being completed by 12:00pm.

What can participants bring for the relay? + -

Participants can bring a chair to sit in while waiting to be counted. If participants wish to stay standing, they are welcome to do that too. Participants can also bring a light snack, and one sealed non-alcoholic beverage. Please be mindful that leaving the line will disqualify from participation. So be careful how much you drink!

Is there food and beverage available for sale? + -

The first 500 people to show up will receive a Rise Bar and an Insomnia Cookie. Food and Beverages will be available for sale throughout the park starting at 10:30am.

What will disqualify my participation in the hug? + -

If you show up after check-in at 9:30am, you are disqualified. Also, leaving the line during as the hug relay passes you. If you want to tell your grandkids that you participated in setting a world record, don’t leave your spot!
