AN INTRODUCTION TO THE PARK AVE FEST

The Park Avenue Summer Art Fest will be celebrating its 41st anniversary this Saturday August 5 and Sunday August 6, 2017. Hosted by the Park Avenue Revitalization Committee, the festival has been produced by The Springut Group Inc since 1998.

The festival runs along both sides of Park Avenue, a trendy tree-lined street of Victorian homes, independent shops and outdoor cafes, for 1 ¼ mile from Alexander Street to Culver Road. Booths are set up on the curb back across the sidewalks, leaving the street open for the estimated 225,000 festival-goers. The street is closed to traffic during the festival hours of 10-6 on Saturday and 10-5 on Sunday, but open for vehicles before and after, so that artists may pull up to their booths to load and unload.

The emphasis is on the 300+ juried art and crafters, but it is also definitely a festival, with three stages of music and a lively mix of other activities. In addition, the approximately 75 members of the Park Avenue Merchants Association are allowed to display and sell their wares in front of their stores.

A panel of respected local artists selects the participants for the show in April in a blind jury. New artists are required to send a photograph of themselves in their workshop creating their art. There is a mixture from fine art to crafts, but no buy and sell is allowed. 87% of 2016 artists indicated on their surveys that they definitely or probably planned to return to the show in 2017.

Amenities to the show are preferred hotel rates, drive-up load in and load out, a continental breakfast on Sunday morning and our amazing Block Captains who are there to help you as needed.

A JURIED ART & CRAFT SHOW

Only those who are the hands-on makers of their work may participate in the Park Ave Summer Art Fest. NO BUY/SELL is permitted. Review the categories, timeline and rules and select which category you will be applying under. You may apply in more than one category but they must be related and cohesive, such as glass and jewelry (made of glass only) AND you need to apply separately, with a separate set of photographs, for each category.

FEES

  • There is a $30 non-refundable application fee
  • The booth fee is $280 for each 10′ x 10′ space. Double booths are twice the cost of a single
  • For applications postmarked after March 22, 2017 there is a $50 non-refundable late fee
  • Applications are not accepted after April 28, 2017
  • You will NOT be paying online. At the end of the application you will be prompted to “Print Entry”. You will mail this signed entry along with two checks: your application fee, which will be deposited upon receipt, and a separate check for your booth fee, which will be deposited after acceptance notifications have been sent in April.
